Arjeplog Axe (head only)

This is an axe pattern that I have been chasing for quite a few years, and up until recently has eluded my best attempts. This axe is based on a viking era piece dug up in northern Sweden. The head is forged from a solid piece of 4150 medium carbon steel and weighs 1-1/4 pounds. Blade length varies from 4-3/4” to 5-1/4”. These are individually forged pieces and exhibit the variation that that is typical with hand forged work.
